58 Residence establishes a new paradigm for vaulted ceilings within an existing roof profile in the semi-rural landscape of Orinda. The elevated ceiling traces the silhouette of the surrounding tree canopy, forming a shelter-like interior volume that supports family life. As a comprehensive remodel and addition, the project preserves the existing bedroom wing while transforming the opposite wing: the former garage is converted into living space, the missing corner of the house is infilled to create a cohesive public area, and a new garage is added along the driveway at the front of the house.
